Stara Praga, Nowa Praga, Szmulowizna and Pelcowizna are still full of pre-war tenements with enclosed courtyards, wooden staircases and no lift. In Praga, getting to the building can be harder than the carrying itself. On Targowa, Ząbkowska, Brzeska or Stalowa the vehicle often cannot get into the courtyard through a low or locked gateway, so the crew parks at the kerb and carries everything through the archway. Check in advance where it is legal to stop, and send us the gate code or the number of a neighbour who can let us in. New buildings are a different story: at Port Praski, in the Koneser lofts or in the newer blocks closer to the Vistula there is usually a reception desk, a barrier and a lift that sometimes has to be booked with the building manager. Most moves from Praga-Północ cross the river – over the Śląsko-Dąbrowski Bridge to Śródmieście and Wola, or over the Gdański Bridge to Żoliborz and Bielany. The bridges are often jammed in the morning, so for a trip like this choose an afternoon slot or the “Any time” option.
